My Story

IT ALL STARTED WITH... learning how to read and write. It was a challenge due to dyslexia, but when I caught on, I discovered the joys of stories. I let my imagination run wild and free, writing as much as possible about a variety of things. The first book I wrote was when I was eight was a collection of poetry with a few watercolor illustrations. By this time, I had also written a couple of short stories through dictation. Once I became more proficient in writing and typing, I wrote stories on my own. By that time, I was unstoppable.

I read whatever story caught my interest, in addition to assigned reading, regardless of the grade level. For example, I was reading Homer’s Odyssey in my first year of middle school. Also in middle school, I went through a phase of reading the literary works of Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Charlotte Bronte, J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and Alexandre Dumas. To name a few, I have read a lot of books and many authors have had an influence on my writing over the years. I could not possibly name them all. The author of the Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all-time favorites. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have reread the book over the years.

By the time college graduation rolled around, I had accumulated many written works, completed, in process, and stacks of ideas. It was after college; I began my journey of self-publishing the stories I have written. There are some written works that may never see the light of day, but the majority will. This is only the start of the adventures dreamed up and lessons learned I hope to share with all who read what I create.
